Letita James won the 4 way race for Attorney General with 40% of the vote, far left challenger Zephyr Teachout had 30% of the vote and in the open primary for the Reform party nomination Nancy Sliwa, wife of Curtis Sliwa defeated her 2 opponents with 52% of the independent vote.
In State Senate races of note Simcha Felder easily defended his opponent in District 17 with over 65% of the vote
Zellnor Myrie upset incumbent Jesse Hamilton with 54% of the vote to Hamilton’s 46% in District 20
Andrew Gounardes defeated Ross Barkin in NY State Senate District 22, now set to face Republican Marty Golden
Alessandra Biaggi, a socialist leaner upset long term Senate District 34 incumbent Jeffrey Klein 54% to 45%
Democratic socialist Julia Salazar, in the biggest upset of the night defeated eight-term incumbent Sen. Martin Dilan in New York’s 18th Senate District with almost 60% of the vote
and Jewish Voice favorite Gina Levy won her race for Broolyn’s 8th municipal court district
