Michael Cohen’s lawyer, Lanny Davis has a history that few know of, including failing to produce an audit of former New York Democratic Representative Charlie Rangel tax records, making millions from dealings with the human rights abusing president of Equatorial Guinea and just recently proliferating fake news on CNN, regarding the meeting between Russians at Trump Tower.

Davis, who was hired after former Trump lawyer pleaded guilty to 8 counts of tax and bank fraud, recently admitted that it was his fault not CNN when they ran with his scoop that Cohen knew the president had advance knowledge of that Trump Tower meeting with a Russian lawyer offering dirt on Hillary Clinton.

“I can understand that they interpreted what I said as a confirmation, and have not blamed CNN,” Davis told Fox News’ Howard Kurtz. “I have blamed myself for not being more clear that, in my mind, I did not know the details about that meeting, and I should not have encouraged any reporter.”

While Davis has changed his story regarding exactly what Cohen knew about the alleged meeting at Trump Tower, CNN is now sticking with the story and now using “anonymous “sources.

When Rep. Charles Rangel was accused of dodging taxes in 2008 after The New York Post revealed that the Harlem Congressman failed to disclose $75,000 in rental earnings from his beachfront villa in the Dominican Republic, Lanny Davis while representing the Congressman promised his client would hire a forensic accountant to conduct an audit and make public both the audit and his tax filings, however this never came to fruition, The NY Post reported.

Lanny Davis blames his client Rangel for failure to produce the audit. “I was replaced as an attorney for Mr. Rangel after the press conference,” Davis told N.Y Post reporters last week. “I recommended that he disclose his taxes, and either he or his new lawyers decided not to. I never quite got the full story.”

The most shocking history of Larry Davis is his dealings with Equatorial Guinea’s longtime dictator, Teodoro Obiang Nguema. Davis was hired as the dictator’s lobbyist on a promise that Obiang would initiate democratic reforms, Washington Post journalist Paul Farhi exposed in 2012. Instead of initiating change Davis only contribution was writing a speech that Obiang gave at an international conference in South Africa that committed the country to admitting human rights monitors.

Lanny Cohen earned over $1 million lobbying for Teodoro Obiang Nguema who has been in power since 1979 and failed to bring any change in that country. The New Republic point to a State Department report on Obiang Nguema’s reign in Equatorial Guinea’s, which included: Unlawful killings by security forces; torture of detainees and prisoners by security forces; life-threatening conditions in prisons and detention facilities, judicial corruption and lack of due process; restrictions on freedoms of speech, press, assembly, association and movement. In other words, Davis had no problems grabbing millions from a vicious dictator.
