In May of 2018, over 2000 Jewish youth from around the globe arrived in Israel’s Ben Gurion airport as part of Birthright’s 18th year. Marking 85 years of activity, the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance decided to celebrate Israel’s 70th birthday with an extra special welcome for the Birthright attendees. Dancers, musicians and singers took to the arrival terminal at Ben Gurion airport to perform a lively rendition of the Israeli classic song, “Hevenu Shalom Aleichem.”
The Birthright participants, who were both surprised and thrilled captured the amazing scene on their cell phones and began joining in on the musical extravaganza. Waving Israeli flags, the musicians and the Birthright participants took the airport by storm as onlookers gazed in delight and sheer joy.
