Nobel Prize for Trump?

At the time of this writing, President Trump has just concluded his initial meeting in Singapore with North Korea’s dictator, Kim Jong Un, heretofore to be referred to as Chairman Kim. Trump flew there directly from Canada where he left the elitists of the G-7 group who were completely shocked and stunned that America no longer was willing to bend down and ask these glorified Socialist leaders to spank us “harder than last time.” Rather, Trump, a proud American, although having no prior political experience, set them straight that his own people come first and will strive to improve their living conditions and that the travails of the rest of the world would have to take second place. He even told them that he would love to have all tariffs on international trade removed. The sales of Imodium skyrocketed in their respective capitals. And that’s the attitude Trump has brought to the table with Kim in Singapore.

Trump breaks the cycle of our past presidents’ underlings’ meeting with NOKO reps that had them break their promises relating to their nuclear programs as soon as American gift giving wore off. As president, Obama merely shrugged off any engagement at all, waiting for his term to be over. And look where that cowardice at diplomacy got us. A pitifully poor nation armed to the teeth with nuclear technology and a leader who is a spoiled but dangerous brat.

But Trump comes to his favorite hangout, the bargaining table armed with two of the most fearless fighters, his national security adviser, John Bolton and Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo who uttered these calming words on Monday: “North Korea has previously confirmed to us its willingness to denuclearize and we are eager to see if those words prove sincere. The fact that our two leaders are sitting down face-to-face is a sign of the enormous potential to accomplish something that will immensely benefit both of our peoples and the entire world. “

And he added words of confidence in the strength of Trump’s abilities to set his cards on the table: “The complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean peninsula is the only outcome that the United States will accept,” he stated just before the summit began.

At the conclusion of the summit, Trump announced that the denuclearization of North Korea would happen “quickly” and touted his highly anticipated meeting with Kim in the most superlative of terms.

For Kim’s part, this summit represented the first time that the free world even heard the sound of his voice and from his statements to the media, one got the strong feeling that Kim wanted a better future for his people while admitting how difficult it was to have even come to the day that he would be conducting direct negotiations with a US president.

Just what results this short meeting will have on the future of the world, we’ll have to wait and see. The North Koreans, like their counterparts, the Palestinians and Iranians, are not necessarily bound by their given word. We’ll have to wait and see.

And we wonder if such 98-pound super-leaders as Trudeau, Merkel and Macron would ever read the riot act to Kim? Never in a million years! That’s why G-d gave us President Trump!
