Mayor DeBlasio: Don’t Fool With Our Elite Schools

We state with sadness that the disease of Israel/Jew hating has now metastasized within our school systems from coast to coast. On our western coast, The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the second largest school district in America, is co-sponsoring “professional development” workshops for K-12 teachers to “Learn about Islam and the Arab World.” And to do so, they have partnered with the group, Fellowship of Reconciliation, or FORUSA, who, according to The Israel Group, is linked with The Council on American Islamic Relations, an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood and Black Lives Matter who has an anti-Israel platform. And right smack in the heart of our own Manhattan, the public high school known as the Beacon School, held a building-wide moment of silence for Palestinians killed while trying to break through the border fences and invade Israel.

And while we’re at it, let’s be totally cognizant of the fact that NYC Mayor DeBlasio now proposes that we make dramatic modifications to the admissions policies of New York City’s elite high schools. This means that gaining admission to such prestigious schools; known for their academic prowess, will no longer be predicated on a meritocracy, but rather on ethnic and racial markers. So, even those who do not deserve to be admitted will be allowed to; strictly because of their race and nation of origin.

And in our own backyard, the highly selective Beacon School, their recent loudspeaker announcement for all students to stand in memory of what they claim were innocent mothers and their kids, ostensibly slaughtered by the IDF at the Gaza border, shocked some students and their parents. “I am extremely upset because I did not send my child to a NYC public school to pray for Hamas operatives,” said one father. A student stated: “As a Jewish student, I could see a lot of my Jewish friends get very weird when the moment of silence started. They don’t know how to feel.” That says it all. The kids don’t know how to feel, so many absorb and take the messages they are given by their superiors and accept them as factual. And in these schools the meaning is clear —- to label Israel as the aggressor against the poor, helpless, peaceful Palestinians. Bad Jews!

Dear readers, if all of us Jews ignore this demonization of Israel in our schools, teaching our impressionable youth that Jews are purposely killing Palestinians, all of us will soon be labled as supporters of this “villainous, “hateful” Jewish state. Then watch us turn into another France, Holland and Belgium where Jews have to look warily behind them for their attackers. It’s coming.

(For this editorial, the Beacon School and its School Board #3 were called for comments. There were no callbacks from them.)

I spent 26 years as the Exec Dir of an international activist volunteer multicultural entity of the best and brightest , continuously bringing organizing and filling huge school and public halls and all other smaller appropriate venues with all backgrounds of students honestly wishing to learn about each other.
The accepted goal was to mitigate at the least cause -less hatred and violence .Now these same schools and their ignorant dangerous faculty seek the opposite.
Obviously, they can and wish only to teach hatred of Jews . As ever, none are meaningfully assisted by the universally useless Jewish so called promoting and protecting myriad entities themselves filled with ignorant cowards and misspent budgets.
