The medallion mogul Evgeny “Gene” Freidman entered a guilty plea in New York state court Tuesday as part of a cooperation deal, the New York Times reported.
The medallion mogul Evgeny “Gene” Freidman was Trump layer Michael Cohen’s partner in operating 32 taxi medallions. Cohen’s office was recently raided by the FBI, who seized several documents including some related to the $130,000 payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, which had dominated headlines and become extremely controversial, TJV reported.
Freidman had been arrested last year by state authorities, on evasion of over $5 million in taxes related to his taxi business to New York state. Now he’s pleaded guilty to one count of evading just $50,000 in taxes, in exchange for agreeing to assist federal or state prosecutors, Vox reported
Michael Cohen has been in business with the Russian-born taxi magnate for many years. The recent search conducted by the FBI also pertained to the tax evasion case of “Medallion King” Gene Friedman.
It was reported by The Jewish Voice in April that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner subleased one of their Park Ave apartments to Friedman, when he was going thru a divorce.
The NY Times does not specify if the deal has anything to do with Cohen and several hours ago Friedman told the NY Daily News, the bargain has nothing to do with Cohen.
