Speaking the Truth at Davos

Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the terrorist Palestinian Authority lashed out recently at our president for announcing that the U.S. Embassy will shortly be moved to Jerusalem which he described as “the eternal capital of Israel.” Abbas, who was the chief underling to Yasser Arafat and was a key player in the 1972 slaughter of the Israeli Olympic team evidently had been spoiled rotten by former presidents, G. W. Bush and Obama to the tune that he thinks he can intimidate Trump to apply pressure on Israel to continue its caving in his demands. He’s dead wrong and he will pay the penalty for miscalculating Trump’s love and support for Israel.

DJT inserted his finger into Abbas’ eye last week at Davos when he said that foreign aid to the Palestinians will remain “on the table” in peace negotiations with Israel until their leaders reenter talks. The president twisted his digit painfully a bit as well by criticizing Palestinian leaders for having “disrespected” his buddy and Vice President Mike Pence in not meeting with him during his recent Middle East trip. A very stupid move by Abbas. Pence told the AP that he was “open” to meeting with Palestinian officials during his visit but was rebuffed by Abbas who evidently lacks NY street smarts. And Trump went further by warning Mahmoud that, “The money (our annual $ aid to Palestine) is on the table. I’ll tell you upfront, we give them tremendous amounts, hundreds of millions of dollars a year that money is on the table. Because why should we do that as a country if they’re doing nothing for us? And what we want to do for them, we want to create peace.” He continued, “I can tell you that Israel does want to make peace, and they’re going to have to make peace too or we’re going to have nothing to do with it any longer.” Our translation….”The cards are on the table. We’ve got a better hand. You lose!”

Those of us, both Christian and Jew, who work and pray for the safety and security of Israel can now remove the worry lines from our brows, for a while, now that we have a leader who understands the Israel-Palestinian situation and tackles the problems head on. And that is to support the democratic state of Israel to the hilt, by deeds, not empty words. We have been inundated with worthless verbiage from the White House since the Oslo Accords were foisted on Israel nearly 25 years ago by President Clinton. We’ve had it and apparently so has our current leader, President Trump. He’s place the ball in the Palestinians’ court. And for sure they’ll drop it.
