Wednesday Evening president Trump revealed the winners of the “Fake News Awards” , his humorous gimmick he is using to ramp up his attack on the press who he feels has unfairly maligned his presidency.
The event gathered so much attention, the GOP.com website actually crashed.
CNN was the biggest “winner” of the evening, grabbing four “Fake News” honors. The New York Times was singled out twice, and Newsweek and Time Magazine were mentioned once.
The Times took the criticism in good spirit and devoted its entire editorial page to Trump’s supporters on Thursday, while Buzz feed, a left leaning website joked that “they were robbed” after not receiving any mentions. The Washington Post in an editorial was quoted as saying that the “awards fell flat” and “it was a loosely formed idea”.
