Infamous tennis star John McEnroe has finally sold his estate in Southampton; unfortunately, it went for much less than his original asking price.

Last month, McEnroe’s 8,000-square-foot beach house sold for $11.25 million, a pretty big percentage under his initial asking price of $14.5 million. In May 2016, he first listed his East End vacation house for $14.5 million, but after a year of not sparking the interest of any buyers, he decided to let his glorious estate go for $3.25 million less.

Even with the significant price drop, McEnroe still made a hefty profit on the deal. In 1999, he purchased the house with his wife, singer and songwriter Patty Smyth, for just $4.2 million.

The property spans 2.17 acres in the historic Murray Compound, and of course it has a tennis court. According to Sotheby’s International Realty’s listing for the property, the main house contains eight bedrooms, eight full bathrooms, an office, a library and features a vaulted ceiling, a sunroom and even a personal gym.

The identity of the savvy buyer who snagged this property has not yet been released.
