This past Sunday was a glorious one for all supporters of Israel in NYC. Thousands of marchers and tens of thousands, both Christians and Jews lined Fifth Avenue as the city celebrated the annual Celebrate Israel Parade. School age kids from yeshivas, Jewish day schools and senior citizens all gathered under overcast skies to show their appreciation to and thankfulness for the state of Israel. The first row, leading the parade were the usual prominent politicos, such as Mayor deBlasio, Senator Schumer and former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber was an honorary grand marshal. This parade was formerly known as the Salute to Israel Parade and marks the birth of the Jewish state in 1948. Basically, the day celebrates the miracle not only of the formation of Israel but its peoples’ humanitarian accomplishments in the field of medicine, technology, literature and on and on that they have contributed to humanity (with little thanks) while under constant threats of annihilation.

But the joy and celebratory mood were dampened a bit by groups, especially Jewish ones, protesting Israel’s policies and existence. Disruption activists from IfNotNow, a Jewish anti-establishment group attempted to block the route carrying signs reading, “No Celebration of Occupation!” Police kept them apart from the paraders. The notorious anti-Israel Jewish group, Jewish Voice for Peace coordinated more than 100 counter demonstrators. One of their groups blocked deBlasio and his contingent, protesting the NYPD’s long-standing positive relationship with Israeli security. Strange that these knuckleheads want to limit their own police from protecting them from the likes of the terror now being inflicted on Europe. And to add to the lunacy of these protests, another gang of queer Jews staged a sit-in to disrupt the parade’s LGBTQ contingent. They held up signs reading, “No pride in apartheid” and “Queer Jews for a free Palestine.” Let these groups of Jews “HANG OUT” in Iran, Palestine and other nations that would be more than willing to let them “Swing” in the breeze.
