A 6,813-squarefoot triplex penthouse in Dumbo’s clock tower building has been sold for $15 million. The building was on the market for a long six years according to the Post’s original reportage.

The $15 million dollar sale has been record breaking as no condominium has ever been sold for that much in Kings County. According to the Post, the condo that previously held that record was located in Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pierhouse development, which sold for $10.67 million.

The buyer of the condominium bought the showpiece condo at 1 Main Street through a Limited Liability company Tic Toc Tower and could not be identified immediately.

The closing of the condominium took place last Tuesday according to the listing broker, Frank Castellucio of the Corcoran Group. The anonymous buyer was represented by Monica Luque of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.

According to the Times, the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath penthouse has been in contract for sale since last June after the asking price had been dropped to $18 million. The closing of the sale was then delayed, according to Mr. Castellucio as the buyer demanded that certain design modifications be in place by the developer, Two Tree Management Company.

Mr. Castellucio also told the Times that the buyer “felt tranquil here…even though the whole city was buzzing underneath.”

The condo is notoriously famous in real estate circles for being intractably difficult to sell. According to the New York Times, the original asking price for the condo was $25 million. The $15 million sale is 40% below the original mark that the sellers had set for the unit.

The sale of this Brooklyn condo holds no rivalry with its Manhattan counterpart. The most expensive duplex sold in Manhattan, located on the 89th and 90th floors of One 57 on Billionaires Row went for $100.5 million.

The last purchase of the clock tower pad was for $10.75, it was purchased in 2006 through an LLC.

That penthouse was on the rental market for an exponential $50,000 a month. The triplex contains signature windows in the shape of clocks that give a nice view of the cityscape that transitions itself from Brooklyn into Manhattan. The suite also contains a chef’s kitchen, exposures in all directions, ceilings that extend 50 feet upward and a glass enclosed three-story private elevator. The unit also boasts an impressive master suite which features a view of lower Manhattan, the Manhattan Bridge and the Statue of Liberty.
