Jewish State or Democracy?

Dear Editor:

Well, nice to see that 48 percent of Israelis finally came to realize that you cannot live with an enemy in your midst. How many more Jews have to be killed and crippled for life before the other 52 percent realize the danger of the Arabs living in Israel. Yet, President Rivlin called transferring the Arabs out of Israel a very dangerous situation. He added that it threatens the democratic character of Israel. “You can’t have a democracy just for Jews, he said.” What would Rivlin choose a “Jewish State or a Democracy for everyone?” Even if it means doing away with a Jewish State? All we need is for more Arabs voting election time, which they are doing and together with the extreme Left having a majority in the Knesset and Israel will democratically be named Palestine and there goes your Jewish State.

The transfer of Arabs whether they hold citizenship or not is not a crime against humanity, as Rivlin believes. Our President either does not know or chooses to ignore that other countries have used transfer to get rid of the Third Column within their country.

You cannot co-exist with Arabs who feel that you stole their land and do not want even one Jew living in their land. Arabs who teach their young children how to kill a Jew and the Jews must get killed; parents who are proud of their son or daughter when they commit a terrorist act and call them a martyr, Arabs who name streets after their terrorists and are brainwashed into thinking that these terrorists will go to heaven and have his 72 virgins.

I will repeat Rabbi Meir Kahane’s HY”D warnings and words. ” I want to transfer the Arabs out of Israel, not because I hate Arabs, but because I love Jews. If Arabs remain, Israel will turn into a Northern Ireland. Jews will be getting killed daily and Arabs will be getting killed. I don’t want Arabs killed – I want them out of Israel. And that is a guarantee that not one Arab will get killed. They have 21 countries to go to. I have ONLY ONE!”

With all our good-will gestures, giving away parts of our homeland and building towns and roads for the Arabs there is no peace. Not only no peace, but daily attacks. You cannot turn terrorists into friends and “collective punishment” has to be as the majority applaud the terror attacks as can be seen by their actions.

Condemns Iran’s March 2016 Ballistic Missile Tests

Dear Editor,

In early January, I wrote an Op-Ed pressing for the United States to be ready and willing to counter Iranian threats to ensure accountability for bad behavior when it comes to both nuclear and non-nuclear violations. Following missile tests last year on October 10th and November 21st, which the UN Security Council Panel of Experts deemed to be in violation of international law, I joined Representatives Nita Lowey (NY-17), Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23), Eliot Engel (NY-16), Albio Sires (NJ-8), Gerry Connolly (VA-11), and Susan Davis (CA-53) in a letter to President Obama calling for immediate punitive action in response to these violations. Shortly after, following the full implementation of the Iran nuclear agreement (JCPOA), the Administration announced new sanctions on Iranian companies and individuals linked with the missile program — showing the President’s commitment to holding Iran accountable for its illicit conduct beyond the JCPOA.

Yet, as I have regularly stated and as Iran has proven time and again, we cannot trust a regime that pledges itself to the destruction of the United States and Israel to abide by its obligations or commitments. That is why my focus in deciding to support the nuclear deal was making sure the inspection and verification requirements were sufficient—i.e. not based on trust—and why I have been so vocal in demanding accountability for Iran’s non-nuclear bad behavior. Two more ballistic missile tests last week, with reports that one of the missiles had the words “Israel must be wiped off the face of the earth” written in Hebrew on the side, confirm what we already know regarding the seriousness of the threat posed by Iran.

In addition to the testing of ballistic missiles in March, Iran’s demonstrated support of terrorist organizations like Hezbollah and Hamas—including Iran offering payments to the families of Palestinian terrorists—as well as its continued human rights abuses require strong, concrete action in response. I hope the Administration will maintain its demonstrated commitment to countering Iran, and urge the President to not only pressure the international community to take a stand by confronting Iran’s violations, but also show that the United States will not tolerate illegal behavior — whether in terms of the restrictions and obligations of the JCPOA, or, with respect to activity outside the scope of the agreement.

Sincerely

Mourning the Loss of David Fremd

Dear Editor,

Last Tuesday afternoon, as I walked into the Beit Chabad of Montevideo for a meeting, I was told that a friend of ours, David Fremd from Paysandъ, had been stabbed and was in critical condition.

Paysandъ is located approximately 400 kilometers from Montevideo, the capital. I took my tallit and tefillin, as well as a box of mezuzahs, and set out to be at David’s side, and to check the mezuzahs in his home and office, and replace them, if necessary.

About an hour into the four-hour drive, I received the message “BDE”—Baruch Dayan HaEmet, “Blessed is the True Judge.”

More than 10,000 people filled the streets of Paysandъ to march in his honor this past Saturday night. I don’t know how many were motivated by the horror of the attack and the need to protest it, and how many were motivated by David’s life and the need to honor it. I think we can safely assume that many were motivated by both.

In his lifetime, David touched individuals. Many of them. After his brutal murder, he has touched multitudes. Many of them. During his lifetime, David helped make this world a better place for many. After his death, he has helped make the world an even better place for even more.

Only G d knows why He chose to turn David’s flame into a torch at this time and in this way.

What it brought me to reflect on is this: Am I living my life in a way that, when magnified, will do even greater good?

Palestinian Goal: To Kill the Jews

Dear Editor:

92,000 Palestinian cross the border daily to work in Israel. In addition, 15,000 Palestinians work in settlements, primarily in the construction trades. Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon suggested issuing 30,000 additional permits in order to further help the Palestinian economy.

The safest place for the Palestinians with jobs is under Israel rule when compared to Palestinians in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Gaza and some other areas. A recent poll by an independent survey firm based in Bethlehem reflected 52% of the Palestinians preferred being under Israel rule than that of Hamas or the Fatah. If the borders to Gaza were opened, over 30% of the people would immediately leave as Gaza is run by terrorists funded now by Turkey and Qatar. The Palestinian Authority is run as a dictatorship in Ramallah under Abbas with that government offering no human rights or any semblance of democracy.

The Palestinians are being sacrificed by their own leadership. There is a void in their leadership. As a result, at present, there is no solution as both the leadership of Gaza and the Palestinian Authority gains strength only from their mandate to destroy Israel, and praising terrorism, hatred and martyrs. Their goal is to kill the Jews and seize the land from the Jordan River to the sea which will never happen. There is no one to negotiate a peace with as there will never be any semblance of peace with the current Palestinian leadership.
