Doron Ben Dov MS,Lac gives insight into the human brain and hormone imbalance

The human brain contains many secrets that are now being revealed and understood better than ever. These discoveries are constantly changing how we previously perceived the brain and its effect on the whole organism. We now better understand how our external and internal environment affects our thinking, brain chemistry and how we perceive reality. The holistic paradigm provides an additional dimension, as it reveals how we are affected constantly by the different eco systems within our body. Slight changes in our hormonal balance or changes in the the microbes in our GI tract affect our mood, sleep and overall health. Our memory contains cognitive maps that are the result of years of following and adapting similar behavioral patterns. We can be “prisoners”  to our thinking and our old patterns of behavior. Our memory is widely distributed in many parts of our brain (as initially observed by Dr Karl Leshley), and thus we are realizing how even the concept of memory storage requires a collaboration between different regions of the brain. This collaboration is crucial and provides an understanding about the cohesiveness and collaborative function of our physiology.

The brain seemingly is equipped with an innate fountain of youth that can repair and restore long lasting changes, provided it receives the right nourishing environment. Many degenerative diseases are the initial result of a decline in our preventive mechanism, disrupting the sensitive balance that is needed to maintain the right equilibrium. Our internal environment t is supposed to maintain this homeostasis, preventing a sharp decline of hormones such as progesterone, estrogen and testosterone. When a part of the system declines, we start feeling changes that we did not previously feel. Such changes can be such as ,long lasting fatigue, weight gain that is stubborn and unresponsive to diet, bloating,  memory decline, mood changes etc. These changes will not be addressed by conventional medicine efficiently as they are undetected originally in blood work. As a matter of fact, it may be years until these changes are seen and detected by conventional tests. However, this does not mean that they are not present.

At the age of 50 for example, production of estrogen declines and thus women tend to feel symptoms such as, weaker bones, light sleep, night sweats, brain fog, bloating etc. Estrogen effects directly another substance called Acetylcholine. Acetylcholine, affects our memory as well as many other processes which are important for homeostasis .When our microbiome (bacteria in GI tract) is in not working efficiently, we end up with GI symptoms that are commonly diagnosed as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and are not properly addressed. Nutritional changes in diet are needed to create balance once again within our system. Foods for example such as the white sweet potato (Chinese yam) or the black soybean are common in the Asian diet as a good natural source for estrogen.

Slight changes in brain chemicals such as serotonin and Dopamine have a direct effect on our behavior and wellbeing. Interestingly, our behavior to external stimuli affects directly the production of these chemicals. This is important to remember as it teaches us that external reality and our internal reality is one and the same, and we can positively create changes that will have a profound effect on our health. Our brain is much more than a complex computer, it’s a mystery that is constantly surprising us and illuminating us with different revelations.  In ancient traditions, the New Year is seen as a spiritual time that contains within the unlimited potential of the entire year. This is similar to a seed that contains within the potential in full before it develops and evolves. This holographic and holistic approach that embodies the concept that each and every part in nature contains the whole is now more than ever about to become a reality. Such an approach will allow the medical professionals to understand the patient better and provide long-lasting therapeutic effects.
