Triple-jumper Hanna Knyazyeva-Minenko secured a place in the final competition in her sport with just one jump.

Israeli triple-jumper Hanna Knyazyeva-Minenko has won the silver medal for her sport in the World Athletics Championship in Beijing on Monday, perhaps paving her way to the upcoming Olympics in Rio, 2016.

Knyazyeva-Minenko jumped 14.78 meters (48.49 feet) in her second jump, breaking her previous record by 7 centimeters.

This is the third medal for an Israeli in the World Athletics Championship.

Knyazyeva-Minenko  will receive an 84,000 shekel ($21,880) prize from the Joint Foundation of the Olympic Committee of Israel for her achievements.

“I feel excellent,” she said. “I wanted it to be quick and I’m happy that I made the final after just one attempt. It is a shame to waste important energy in the qualifiers. Now I can rest well to ensure I reach the final in the best condition possible.”

The 25-year-old, who jumped 14.61m in Prague in June to improve her own national record, finished in sixth place in the previous edition of the world championships in Moscow two years ago, her first major event as an Israeli.

Culture and Sport Minister Miri Regev (Likud) welcomed the achievement.

“Hanna Knyazyeva-Minenko has provided one giant step for women in Israeli sports,” she stated Monday afternoon.
