Veterans and business owners still seeking compensation from the State to be represented in special series of debates in Knesset.
The Knesset marks one year since Operation Protective Edge in Gaza on Tuesday, and will be holding a series of debates and hearings on the issues, including testimonies from soldiers who served.
Several reserve soldiers who were injured but are still not recognized asdisabled veterans are due to testify, according to Maariv, as well as business owners in the South still seeking the financial aid due them from the State.
About 83% of the 322 soldiers declared as “disabled” from the war have not yet completed the process of testifying in front of medical boards for the rehabilitation department in the IDF, MK Ofer Shelah (Yesh Atid) maintained to the daily, and as such have not been reimbursed for medical care or even the full care due them.
It also turns out that many of those injured are not receiving the economicbenefits due to them, due to non-completion of the process with the medical board: 69% of the injured who were asked said that their families suffered economically following the injury.
Additionally, Shelah said, 86% of people injured in the 2014 war do not know what their rights are because they claim the Rehabilitation Department at the Defense Ministry did not inform them about their rights, and 76% said they do not know to whom they should turn to address the subject.
At the same time, the Finance Committee will hear several testimonies from large and small business owners still awaiting compensation over the war on Tuesday morning, including representatives from the manufacturing, agriculture, and trade divisions, as well as regional council (i.e. local municipality) representatives.
