Pressure Mounts on Schumer and Gillibrand; Media to Put Them on the Spot Over Iran Bill

Senators Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)

Senators Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) On Friday, March 27 at 12:00 noon, a press conference is scheduled to be held in front of the offices of Senators Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) at 780 Third Avenue in Manhattan. Local and national media outlets will be inquiring as to whether these elected officials to have any intention to vote in favor of the override of President Obama’s expected veto of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act; also known as the Corker-Menendez Bill.

Said a source close to journalists who are working on a investigative piece on the proposed deal with Iran that President Obama would like to strike, “ Despite the public statements made to Jewish groups by both Schumer and Gillibrand about their commitment to Israel many of us in the media find it highly circumspect that they’ve both chosen to remain mum at such a critical time for Israel and the US.”

The source added, “the press conference is going to be held on Friday because the initial vote on the bill will take already taken place by then and the pressure will be on to secure the rest of the votes needed for an override.”
