Tragedy in the Catskills: Toddler Dies after Drowning in Bathtub

The Catskills in Upstate New York is a popular vacation spot for many in the Jewish community.

A 2-year-old toddler visiting from Florida died Tuesday morning, January 20, after drowning in a bathtub at their residence at Evergreen Estates Day Camp in Loch Sheldrake, Upstate New York.

EMS responded at around 10:00am to a call of a child who has drowned in a bathtub. EMS transported the child to Harris Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The toddler was identified as Benzion Zisha Lieberman, the youngest of 4 kids to his parents.

The Family, from North Miami Beach, was at the winterized house on vacation, a person close to the family told JP. The father, who was not in New York at the time, is coming up from Florida.

The incident is under investigation by Liberty State Police and Fallsburg Police detectives.
