Need Actions, Not Just Talk to Stop PA Incitement

Dear Editor:

Joseph Klein pointed out in his November 19 op-ed (“Analyzing the Car Intifada in Israel”) that the Obama Administration’s general statements about the need for Israelis and Palestinians to “de-escalate tensions” are ineffective, because “when it comes to the Palestinians who sing about killing babies, her pleadings fall on deaf ears. ” Why? Because the administration needs to back up its words with actions. The way to stop Palestinian incitement is to show them that there is a price to be paid for their actions. The U.S. could, for example, reduce the $500-million in aid that it sends to the Palestinian Authority each year. It could declare that PA representatives are not welcome to visit the United States until all incitement stops. It could pressure America’s European allies to do likewise. But as long as the admin-istration does nothing but talk, the PA will have no incentive to halt the incitement.

President Obama’s Moral Equivalencies

Dear Editor:

It is truly remarkable, to say the least, that President Obama this week condemned the beheading of American Peter Kassig  by the Islamic State (IS) as “an act of pure evil” — yet, when Palestinian terror-ists wielding butcher’s knives and axes murdered four Jews at prayer in a Jerusalem synagogue, he said, “Too many Israelis have died. Too many Palestinians have died … I think it’s important for both Pales-tinians and Israelis to try to work together to lower tensions and to reject violence.”

Yes, I know he also called the Jerusalem attack “horrific.” But why the moral equivalence between Is-raelis slain by terrorists and Palestinians killed in hostilities and between Palestinian terrorism and Israeli military action?

I didn’t hear President Obama say after the Kassig beheading of that too many Americans as well as too many Middle Easterners were dying, and that the U.S. and ISIS must lower their level of violence.

Yours sincerely,

I Can’t Wait to See the End of Obama’s Sophomoric Visuals

Dear Editor,

The moment Obama vacates the Oval Office in the White House, the entire edifice needs to be fumigated and all vestiges of the former occupant’s self-aggrandizing visuals should be treated to a bonfire on the South Lawn.  The mass media should be ordered to report on the event.

I would make certain to include Obama’s personal, obnoxious Rising Sun logos; custom graphics as props behind every photo op, none of which contained any traditional patriotic elements;  yel-low curtains in the background at press briefings, with obscure but nevertheless offensive Islamic hieroglyphics; neckties around the necks of the President’s smarmy spokes mouths that were col-or-coordinated with background graphics – and other manifestations of Imam Obama’s devotion to Islamist lunacy, coupled with his advanced state of obsessive Narcissism.

I long to see that hallway our Presidents trod on their way to the podium, once again, lined with the Red, White & Blue colors of our flag, ‘Old Glory’.  I want to see those 5-pointed, bright white stars against the field of the original hue of deep, dark blue.

At some point early in Obama’s dictatorship, his unknown guru of graphics decided that the blue of our nation’s flag should match the blue or be consistent with the blue of all the other na-tional flags that stood next to it.  So, the blue field  in our flag was lightened to a sort of Skipper blue that matched the flags of Russia and Brazil, among others.  Am I the only one to notice and be offended by this diddling with the traditional hue of the blue in our most sacred symbol of our sovereignty, our nation’s flag?   To me as a veteran, it was a big ‘no-no’.

No other president prior to Obama found it so necessary to assuage his ego that he felt he had to customize existing national symbols or invent new ones in order to assert his presence as the top elected official of the United States of America.  The first president George Washington had his family crest that was handed down to him from generations of his family that lived in England.

It was later adopted as the logo of the Capital City of the nation, Washington, D.C. located in the District of Columbia.  However, I am unaware of President George Washington ever impos-ing his family crest onto presidential accoutrements in order to promote his own eminence.  He had no need to do that.  Obama was obsessed with his need to do that.

In any case, expunging all sophomoric visuals associated with the dark and inglorious chapter in our history that was dominated by the first and hopefully the last Muslim president of our be-loved United States of America, should be a first priority of the next President.  We are not the Imperial USA; we are a nation of individuals with an elected President as first among equals.

Sincerely,

Mort Kuff

Response to the Challenge to
“Name the Successes of Our President”

Dear Editor:

In his November 21 letter, Alan [no last name indicated] challenges Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Chair of the Democratic National Committee, to “name the successes of our President during his past six years in office.” Since she likely will not see his letter, I would like to respectfully respond.

Alan, have you forgotten that when President G. W. Bush left office, our beloved country was on the brink of a depression, with an average of 750,000 jobs being lost per month, and do you realize that there have now been 56 consecutive months of private sector job growth, with over ten million net jobs created, despite consistent Republican efforts to obstruct Democratic efforts to get our economy back on track.

Have you forgotten Alan that the stock market was decreasing sharply when President Obama entered office, and do you realize that the Dow has far more than doubled since then.

Another point to consider in terms of Obama’s accomplishments is that the federal deficit is now less than a third of what it was when Obama took office, as a fraction of our gross domestic product. Certainly there is a need for additional economic improvements, but please consider that inflation and interest rates are low, gas prices are down, oil imports are decreasing, and the dollar has become stronger.

Alan, you list many points as negatives for Obama that are very far off the mark. I will just ad-dress two of them. First, you claim that “Obama Care [is a] total disaster.” Well, Obama suc-ceeded in what previous presidents in the past hundred years or so failed to do – get a compre-hensive health care bill passed. While it is far from perfect, it is built on Republican principles, as is Romney Care, it has provided insurance for millions of previously uninsured Americans and it has significantly reduced the rate of increase of medical expenditures, among other positives. Hopefully Congress will work to make it even better.

Second, Alan, you refer to “six years of stabbing Israel in the back.” Please explain how this can be when, among other positives, Israeli military and strategic experts agree that strategic coopera-tion between the US and Israel has never been better and Obama has consistently backed Israel at the UN, causing Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to declare in one case that Obama ‘deserves a badge of honor.”

Very truly yours,

Richard H. Schwartz, Ph.D.
