Surveillance video captured the suspects in the Diamond District jewelry store robbery.

A criminal complaint charges that a surveillance video captured the inside made speaking with a co-conspirator mere minutes before the $600,000 armed robbery in the Diamond District. On November 11, the day of the heist at Watch Standard Jewery on W. 47th Street, 25 telephone calls and text messages were exchanged between Rondu Frisby, known as “Reef,” and his partner-in-crime.

Frisby was the man on inside, who worked as an errand-boy for the store. He is seen on the video walking 20 feet ahead of 58-year-old Leon Fenner, of the Bronx, who had a third still unidentified man shadowing him, the complaint claims.

At approximately 2:20 p.m., Frisby and Fenner were captured talking on their cellphones. It is alleged that telephone records confirm that the two were speaking to each other.

According to authorities, Fenner and the unidentified man are still evading law enforcement. The complaint states that Fenner was identified by fingerprints left on a large yellow envelope found at the crime scene.

37-year-old Frisby was arrested Monday night, November 17, at the home of a relative on W. 149th Street and charged with robbery. Police sources revealed that Frisby was also accused of drug possession after cops witnessed him dumping cocaine out of the Harlem apartment’s window.

Before the robbery began, Frisby was already inside the business, which is on the eighth-floor and only open to private clients, the complaint said. He had arrived minutes before Fenner showed up requesting help in selecting jewelry for a girlfriend. The complaint charged that Frisby assisted the owner Boris Mikhay-lov with the removal of watches and jewelry from the store safe and into Fenner’s black bag.

Fenner snuck into the building by posing as a delivery man, donning a trench coat and Kangol hat, but un-fortunately for him, no gloves. Dressed in a suit with an overcoat, Fenner pistol-whipped a relative of the owner before exiting through an elevator with the second robber down to the street.

Sources said that the jewelry store’s watches were found with Frisby at the Harlem apartment. The total estimated value of the stolen goods, watches, jewelry and cash, was $600,000.

Police were led to Fenner by three fingerprints left on the envelope. The connection between the robbery suspect and Frisby was confirmed through their cellphone records.
