In the aftermath of the passing of comedy legend Joan Rivers on September 4th, it has been revealed that Ms. Rivers has left part of her $150 million estate to “ the dogs” and we mean that quite literally.

Rivers, 81, made sure that her finances were completely in order before her untimely death after complications from a routine throat surgery, leaving everything to daughter Melissa, 46, and grandson Cooper 13.

Rivers’ estate includes her $35 million upper east side apartment and her $40 million per year revenue from her costume jewelry collection on QVC.

Besides Melissa and Cooper, Joan left clear instructions for the other loves in her life, namely her precious rescue dogs, Samantha and Teegan, who resided with her in New York City, according to a report in the Daily Mail of the UK. In addition to her New York canines, Joan also made provisions for her Los Angeles dogs; a Jack Russell Terrier and a Border Collie. Both Samantha and Teegan meant so very much to Joan that they were allowed to be at her side while she was in the week-long coma at Mount Sinai hospital.

According to a report on the Hollywood Life web site, Joan was known to talk about her love for her animals, and even told the Wall Street Journal, just how much she loved her pooches.

“Only when you love dogs very much do you let them sit on $300-per-yard French fabric,” she said. “Samantha is the little black-haired one and Teegan is my newest rescue. I’ve never been one of those Fifth Avenue ladies that have to have dogs that match. I am the Angelina Jolie of barkers.’
