How to Defeat ISIS

Dear Editor:

First it is a mistake to arm Syria’s rebels. They are weak and cannot help us. Most of the weapons we give them will end up in ISIS hands. Many of the rebels trained by the CIA in Jordan, joined ISIS.  We need a country with an army to align with us. In Syria, we should try to make an accommodation or peace between the rebels and President Assad’s government to have a united front against ISIS. It may lead to President Assad stepping down in the next round of elections.

We should not expect other nations to fight our war. If we want to defeat ISIS we should be the leader. The only groups that can fight on our side now are the Assad regime, Iran, the Kurds and Iraq. Egypt, Jordan, the Gulf Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Indonesia and Pakistan will join our war if we commit our boots on the ground.

Sincerely,

Professor Heskel M. Haddad, M.D.

Obama Fakes Out ISIS as “Not Muslim!”

Dear Editor:

So now our president is telling us that the murderous, “Allahu Akhbar” shouting ISIS group is not Muslim, that they are really anti-Muslim. That they are beheading and crucifying infidels, burning churches and fighting to create a Caliphate apparently is not enough for Barack Obama to identify them as fighters for Islam. So how does our maven of religions label them faith wise? Of course, stupid me. They are the enemies of true Islam.

This sham of a leader, who sat through over twenty years of Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s ranting sermons demonizing Jews, whites and America thought he was in a “Christian” church all that time? What did he think Christianity was all about? What basis in his life gave him any inkling of what constituted a true faith? His Communist parents, grandparents and his radical early childhood tutor, Frank Marshall Davis, were all godless despisers of any organized religion. He studied Islam and was a mosque attendee while in Indonesia in his early years. Yet he denied publicly ever being Muslim. What words coming out of his mouth can we possibly take seriously?

He leads our nation and supposedly, the free world during these mind boggling times. We need someone courageous, fearless and freedom loving to save us from the fires of hell that radical Islam is preparing for us. Look at Christian Europe. They are being consumed by the Islamic predators whom they foolishly welcomed in giving them haven from their primitive, poverty stricken homelands in the Middle East. Now they are threatened with an Islamic majority within the next half century. G-d help them!

We, here in this country, face the same fate. Unless of course our president is replaced in two years with another who recognizes the teachings of the Holy Koran:

“And whoever does not believe in Allah and his Apostle, then surely we have prepared fire for the unbelievers” (Koran Sura 48, Verse 13)

Sincerely,

Commentary on the Jewish Voice Caricatures

Dear Editor:

On August 29, 2014 you had a caricature of someone representing three individuals (or groups). The first was someone representing an Arab, someone representing the secretary of state john Kerry and the third representing Prime Minister Netanyahu. The Arab was dark skinned holding an infant, with a note to kill all Jews. The person in the middle is saying to Netanyahu can a compromise be reached. I won’t even discuss the second caricature that depicted president Obama, the president of the United States remember, with tubes of some kind going into his head as he stood in the middle and directly stating how stupid he was.

On September 5, 2014 you had a caricature of three people again. Two people, one with Obama cowering behind Kerry again, with Kerry holding knife with Netanyahu’s back turned. The statement was that the United States was behind Israel 100%. Both men looked human, but Obama his ears again took the form of an animal – dumb perhaps. As far as I know, president Obama has consistently surrounded himself with advisors who are Jewish. Both he and his wife are graduates of Harvard law school.  He was the editor of the Harvard law review. The first lady’s cousin is an orthodox rabbi.

I noticed that your paper featured ex-congressman Eric cantor, while Charles Schumer came second. Chuck Schumer by the way with the most seniority, who is not political history, and has consistently been supportive of Israel and not just with words.

No one should dispute that the United States supports Israel and its continued existence. The interests may not be totally in agreement with Israel. Maybe they are; it may be just the fact that it is a strategic stronghold or maybe there are spiritual connotations underlying the support. You have not problem taking support from wherever it comes from.  Your paper consistently touts its coalition with Christians, often the religious right Christians. Have we forgotten that Christians fervently believe that anyone who does not believe J.C. is the messiah is going to hell? Have Jews forgotten the pogroms? Were they that long ago? Christian’s that desire to assist in the building of a third temple for reasons that are not the same as ours.

If we are willing wear the yoke of a chosen people, then our messages must reflect that. “Chosen” does not mean superior, but rather a greater responsibility as the nation that accepted the covenant. We cannot reduce ourselves to those around us, using simplistic and viscerally insulting images, while at the same time desiring those same people to support us and to recognize that this is not about land that is only a small but significant part of it but about a nation. That the Beni Israel is not defined by melanin content; that this is about that nation’s right to exist. Why it should exist, I do not have to explain; every child of Israel should know.

Sincerely,

Mykhel Yisrael
