Rabbi Dovid Baruch Lau, the Chief Ashkenazi rabbi of Israel speaking at a special meeting of the International Committee for the Preservation of Har HaZeisim that was held on Sunday morning, May 11th at the home of Rabbi Moshe Tuvia Lieff in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn. At the meeting, Malcolm Hoenlein, the executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations announced that internationally renowned philanthropist George Klein, (who is also a vice chair of the Museum of Jewish Heritage) is making a $100,000 matching contribution to the efforts of helping to maintain the security of the 3000 year-old cemetery in Jerusalem.
