‘Best Job Contest’ and ‘Wedding Gift Challenge’ Encourage Newlyweds and Professionals to Talk Aliyah

This past week, Nefesh B’Nefesh launched two innovative social media-based contests at the Aliyah Mega event in NYC, which was attended by 1,000 people. The Best Job Contest and Wedding Gift Challenge are designed to get North American Jews talking about Aliyah on their social networks and encourage two core groups – young professionals and newlyweds – to immigrate to Israel. The competitions are being run as part of a new initiative aimed at inspiring North Americans about Aliyah, called ‘This is My Israel’.

Contestants in the ‘Best Job Contest’ (www.thisismyisrael.com/jobs) will compete to win one of ten jobs in various high-profile companies in Israel, all of which are secured for a one year contract, including KPMG, ISCAR, IBM, SODA STREAM, GOLAN TELECOM, JCPA and THE TIMES OF ISRAEL. Competitors will be judged by three factors: the quality of web content they produce related to working and living in Israel, the total number of votes their profile pages earns and suitability for the jobs up for grabs.

To win the Wedding Gift Challenge (www.thisismyisrael.com/weddinggift), engaged couples and newlyweds must earn votes on their contest profiles by sharing with their friends on Facebook and Twitter. The more votes they receive, the more wedding gift prizes they earn to help them start their new lives in Israel. There are four tiers of prizes: a $50 gift certificate for 220V appliances, a romantic dinner at an Israeli winery, a $1,000 shopping spree at IKEA Israel, and one $10,000 grand prize. The contests will run through the summer, with the Best Job Contest ending July 31st, 2013, and the Wedding Gift Challenge ending on June 30th, 2013.

“Over the past few years we have noticed a growing trend of young couples and professionals making Aliyah taking advantage of the healthy job market and great social opportunities available in Israel,” explains Marc Rosenberg, Director of Pre-Aliyah for Nefesh B’Nefesh. “These contests will help increase awareness of Aliyah by involving the friends and family of the contestants who will be sharing in their Aliyah journey and actively following and supporting them as they begin new careers and start new lives in Israel.”
