Hizbullah exposed for what it is – “A terrorist group…that poses a growing threat not only to Europe, but to the rest of the world”
In the wake of a lengthy investigation by the Bulgarian government which revealed that the Lebanese Hizbullah terror organization was behind a July tour bus bombing in Burgas which targeted Israelis, the White House pressed Europe to finally take “proactive action” to stop the terror organization.
“We call on our European partners as well as other members of the international community to take proactive action to uncover Hezbollah’s infrastructure and disrupt the group’s financing schemes and operational networks in order to prevent future attacks,” John Brennan, Obama’s nominee to head the CIA, said in a statement.
However, with Tuesday’s accusation by Bulgarian officials that Hizbullah was behind a bus bombing which killed five Israeli tourists, their Bulgarian driver and wounded dozens, the U.S. is urging the international community not to ignore the Lebanese threat, which is extending its grasp beyond the Middle East.
“Bulgaria’s investigation exposes Hizbullah for what it is – a terrorist group that is willing to recklessly attack innocent men, women, and children, and that poses a real and growing threat not only to Europe, but to the rest of the world,” Brennan said. “The United States will continue to provide the Bulgarian Government assistance in bringing the perpetrators of this heinous attack to justice.”
