Midrash Ben Ish Hai is inviting you to join us on a unique and unparalleled, once-in-a-lifetime journey, discovering Jewish trails and exotic sites in India. Rabbi Ya’aqob Menashe, who spent his childhood in Bombay, and is closely associated with the Sassoon Synagogues there, will share his insights with us on the trip.
India is one of the most attractive, exotic and diverse countries you can visit. You will discover large, Western, cosmopolitan cities, quaint charming hill stations, where no cars are allowed, and the roots of vibrant Jewish communities in the world today, including the Babylonian Jewish communities and the indigenous Bene Israel communities.
The trip will include (among others):
Mumbai: The major cosmopolitan city. Sightseeing, shopping in the silver market and artisan areas (bring your bargaining skills). Prayers in Sassoon Synagogues, and insights into Jewish life.
Jaipur: The beautiful “Amber City”, capital of Rajasthan.
Agra: On the Jumna river. Home of the Taj Mahal of Shah Jehan, for his wife Mumtaz.
Delhi: Capital of India
Matheran: Eco sensitive hill station, 2,625 feet elevation, with breathtaking views. No cars allowed, but there are plenty of monkeys.
Please respond as soon as possible, if you would like to join us, or are thinking of it. Time is of the essence.
