Food exports from Israel to North America in 2012 reached $122 million, approximately 24% of total exports. This represents a 30% increase in exports compared to 2011. Approximately 90% of food exports to North America are to the kosher market. Seventeen Israeli companies will exhibit in the Israel pavilion at Kosherfest 2012 which opens next Tuesday in Secaucus, New Jersey.

The Israel pavilion, organized by the Israel Export Institute in conjunction with the Economic Mission of Israel in New York, will showcase a wide variety of products, presenting the diversity of Israel’s food culture and industry. On display will be traditional, familiar staples, as well as new products, making their global debut at Kosherfest. Amongst the exhibitors are Tempo, Zer Matok, Maimon’s, Baron International Trading, Cohen Or, Bart (Chocotrade), Eliad Olive Oil, Kevuzat Yavne, Matzot Aviv, Pereg Gourmet, Pri Chen, Recanati Winery; Saba Habib, Tvuot Bar, and Yehiam (Hod Lavan).

According to Nili Shalev, Economic Minister for the Israel Economic Mission in New York, “Kosher food has become synonymous with healthy, quality food. We see Kosherfest as a gateway for Israeli companies looking to introduce their products to the American market. Each year, our Israeli food exporters join the Israel pavilion as the interest in products from Israel keeps growing.”

Michal Neeman of the Israel Export Institute, noted: “Kosherfest is a great opportunity for Israeli companies to introduce products for mainstream export markets. The trend towards quality and innovation has not escaped the kosher consumer, and Israeli products presented at Kosherfest reflect this trend.”
