As the New York-New Jersey area rebounds from the destruction left behind by Hurricane Sandy, plans for the 24th edition of Kosherfest – scheduled to open next Tuesday November 13 -went into full gear. The Meadowlands Exposition Center, site of Kosherfest 2012, and the surrounding hotels escaped unscathed from the hurricane and are operating normally, according to Bill Springer of Diversified Business Communications which coproduces the show with Lubicom Marketing.

Roads, bridges, tunnels and airports are expected to be fully functional by the show dates. Springer said that the show move-in schedule remains the same. Show organizers said that the exhibit floor is sold out, with no cancellations due to the storm. Buyer registration is 23% ahead of the 2011 pace with several hundred being received since Sandy hit.

With some 350 booths, Kosherfest 2012 will again be the largest gathering of trade professionals involved in kosher foods. Visitors from more than 20 states as well as a dozen countries will attend the show that each year includes some 500 new products, including those that have already won the Best New Products at Kosherfest.

Two large international pavilions will add to the international flavor of the show. The large pavilion sponsored by the Israel Export Institute will include many first-timers with innovative products. Argentina will again showcase the growing number of products produced in the South American nation. Other large booths include the Kedem Group, Manischewitz, Osem USA, Blue & White Foods, Streit’s, Agri Star, Paskesz, and Klein’s Ice Cream.

The show opens on Tuesday morning with a keynote address on “Competing for a New Age Kosher Consumer in a Changed Environment” by Menachem Lubinsky, Kosherfest Founder and President & CEO of LUBICOM Marketing. It will be followed by a session on “Tropical Food Products in the Kosher Marketplace,” to be addressed by: the Honorable Ambassador Mario Lopez De Leon Jr., Counsel General, Philippine Consulate General, NYC; Eliza Grynspan, Executive Chef, Kosher Expeditions; and MA Antoinette Salazar, Director, PS Kosher Food Works Philippine Liaison Office.

This session will be followed by the Authors Corner featuring some of the leading kosher cookbook authors. Other major sessions that day will be on “Building Your Brand’s Online Presence Via Social Media,” led by Esti Berkowitz, and “Branding: The Most Critical Element for Long-Term “Mainstream” Success!” with John McGuckin of Sabra and Milt Weinstock of Kosher Media Network.

Another international session will be sponsored by Argentina Kosher. The main event on Wednesday will be the Kosherfest Culinary Competition.
