Sheldon Adelson’s “Vegas in Spain”

Dear Editor:

I read with great interest your recent story about Sheldon Adelson (you seem to be running a lot of those lately), and his plans to build a mini-Las Vegas in Spain.

Honestly, I’m a little torn when it comes to Mr. Adelson. On one hand, he made much of his fortune through legal but not exactly wholesome enterprises. On the other hand, he appears to be a tremendous ba’al chesed, with a strong sense of ahavas Yisroel. And his politics are (excuse the choice of words), right on the money.

I guess what I’m saying is that although I don’t approve of casinos in principle, at least the guy is creating jobs, helping the U.S. and European economies, and using some of his profits on very worthwhile causes (Birthright is a great example).

So, thank you, Jewish Voice, for helping show us the other side of this oft-maligned mogul.
