Walid Shoebat has extensively documented executions and crucifixions of “traitors” by Islamic fundamentalists in Yemen and Egypt. An Islamic terrorist group affiliated with Al-Qaeda captured and crucified an alleged American spy in Yemen this past February, in an incident that only just came to light through the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI)’s highlighting of a video posted by the group on YouTube.

The media monitoring organization said the man had been crucified by Ansar Al-Shari’a for allegedly directing U.S. drones that attacked terrorists operating in Yemen. The victim was crucified on an electric pylon in south Yemen’s Abyan province.

As seen in the video, the group placed a sign above the man’s head that depicted the flag of the terrorist group along with text from verse 5:33 of the Koran, that states: “The recompense of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and do mischief in the land is only that they shall be killed or crucified or their hands and their feet be cut off from opposite sides, or be exiled from the land. That is their disgrace in this world, and a great torment is theirs in the Hereafter.”

According to experts who took into consideration the date of the video, it has been concluded that the crucified man is Saleh Ahmed Saleh Al-Jamely. He was executed on February 12, 2012 after being convicted by a court run by Ansar Al-Shari’a.

The Al-Qaeda linked Yemeni group had accused Al-Jamely of serving as a spy for the United States and placing two chips in two cars that were later targeted by American drones. A statement that was sent out by the Islamic court of Waqqar Emirate in Abyan Governorate, dated February 10, 2012, ten members of Ansar Al-Shari’a were killed as a result of that drone attack. In addition to Al-Jamely, the Islamic group captured two other men, Hassan Naji Hassan Al-Naqeeb – who was accused of recruiting spies and delivering chips – and Ramzi Muhammad Qaid Al-Ariqi, who was accused of spying for Saudi Arabian intelligence by taking photographs of a number of buildings. Ansar Al-Shari’a executed both men in public, but did not crucify them.

As reported by WorldNetDaily, former PLO member and Muslim turned pro-Israel Christian and terrorism expert Walid Shoebat has translated an inscription in the photograph of Al-Jamely as saying, “He was crucified for three days in accordance to Shariah.”

A report in Lebanon Today that was translated by Shoebat described the circumstances of the group’s vengeful actions in-depth. “One they nicknamed ‘Captain’ was executed by crucifixion for three days at the entrance to the city of Jaar in the Abyan province,” the news item elaborated, “to be viewed by passersby entering and leaving the city. Two Saudis and a Yemeni were also executed by the sword at dawn at the hands of Ansar al-Shariah, and the terrorists absolved a fourth defendant from execution for his young age.” The report said that a leader of the Yemeni jihadist group justified the executions because the suspects had planted tracking devices “on cars that belong to al-Qaida leaders to be targeted by the drones.”

According to a researcher into the imposition of Islamic rule over the Azzan area of Yemen by Ansar al-Shariah, “The incidents of these executions never occurred previously in Yemen, but they follow the sequence of events which occurred previously in Afghanistan and Iraq, where Islam is the religion of the state. In Iraq, these terrorists see Iraq as the Islamic State of Iraq.

“‘In Afghanistan, the ones who receive this type of executions are those who are considered spies. But in Yemen this is the first time we have seen such phenomenon, which has become a natural thing now because al-Qaida now exercises the powers of the state and it’s natural that it carries out such executions.”

Shoebat reported that eight other executions had been committed in the same period as the ones described here, including three by crucifixion and another five by beheading.

Reports have similarly emerged of crucifixions by Islamic fundamentalists in Egypt. Sky News revealed that members of the Muslim Brotherhood “crucified” dissidents opposed to the rule of Muhammad Mursi “naked on trees in front of the presidential palace.” The crucifixions were also mentioned in a number of Arab newspapers and websites. And a separate news report claims that the Muslim Brotherhood crucified several protesters against the Egypt’s president in front of the country’s presidential palace.
