Abramoff spent four years in prison, from 2006 to 2010, and worked for a kosher pizzeria for six months after his release, while living in a halfway house. In 2011, he wrote a book about his experiences as a lobbyist, Capitol Punishment: The Hard Truth About Corruption From America’s Most Notorious Lobbyist. He has appeared on CNN to discuss lobbying in regards to the Affordable Care Act, and his radio show, “The Jack Abramoff Show” will air on Sundays. “The reason I am excited about radio is that it gives me a chance to talk to people,” Abramoff told Daily Beast writer Lloyd Grove. “Writing a book or being on TV, you don’t really get any feedback. With a radio show you really do. I have sort of a unique take on things because of my history and experiences. And I can bring to discussions some stories from my past.”
Before his incarceration, Abramoff started a Jewish school and ran two kosher restaurants in Washington D.C.
