The dinner took place last Thursday evening, May 17th, at the YMHA in Union, NJ. Athletic stars from yeshiva high schools and college, athletes involved in summer camps throughout the metropolitan New York area as well as Bader’s former players, coaches, referees and team managers were in attendance.
Bader is a basketball legend in his own right. He played for the Yeshiva University basketball team from 1956 to 1960 and was drafted by the NBA to play for the Baltimore Bullets in 1960, though he never did. Bader, who holds a Master’s degree in adaptive physical education, founded Camp Seneca Lake in the Poconos in 1970 and created the athletic program at Touro. Currently, Bader oversees sixteen courses in physical education on all the Lander College campuses.
