Winner of the Best Solo Debut Award from The United Solo Festival at Theatre Row, Off-Broadway 2010, “The Emancipation of the Sassy Jewish Woman” chronicles Hadari’s journey from Brooklyn yeshiva student to wandering Israeli gypsy to sassy New York actress and producer.
“This is a story about jewel encrusted elephant rides in India, mesmerizing beaches in the Dead Sea and one woman’s journey to emancipation,” Hadari says. “It focuses on the complicated question of identity many Israeli-American women deal with today.” Hadari’s performance is based on her personal journey through America, Israel, Egypt, Turkey, India, China and Thailand. “I decided to share my story in the hope that it would inspire others to keep following their own dreams.”
An actress, singer, producer and television host, Sivan Hadari attended the prestigious Alon High School for Performing Arts and the Bet Zvi Conservatory. She was a member of the Masach Rishon Israeli Theatre Company for five years and attended HB Studios as well as the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. Her New York credits include Manhattan Lavender, My Pal Bette, and RECONSTRUCTION with The International WOW Theatre Company. She has produced commercials for the Israeli Network Channel here in New York, and – in 2010 alone – served as co-producer and associate producer of the shows NO EXIT, SABRA, A Daughter of Israel, World Extravadanza, J-SLAM: Jewish Storytelling at its Best and ISRAFEST – an Israeli Music Festival featuring Isramerican bands in collaboration with Rami Kleinstein.
