Boro Park Shomrim has unveiled its new high-tech mobile truck command center, a $300,000 vehicle that will significantly enhance the organization’s ability to keep the local community safe and secure. The state-of-the-art unit was presented at a ribbon-cutting ceremony during Shomrim’s annual breakfast on Sunday, which took place at Cong. Anshei Sfard in Boro Park.

Custom-built on a Ford truck chassis, the mobile command center features a five-person dispatch center, a twelve-person conference room, a private meeting room and expandable walls. It also boasts a full communications center that has the capability to provide Verizon service in any location, full outside lighting and many other valuable accessories. “We are ready to roll in Boro Park,” declared Yanky Daskal, the head of Shomrim. “We hope to only use it for good things.”

At the breakfast, Shomrim paid tribute to Deputy Comptroller Simcha Felder for his crucial efforts to secure funding for the command center from the New York City Council. Felder’s actions in this regard began six years ago, when he was serving Boro Park as its city councilman. “It was wonderful to be a part of this,” Felder commented. “This is something that is so needed by the community.”

Assemblyman Dov Hikind was unabashed in his admiration of the community patrol organization. “Shomrim does a remarkable job every single day of the year,” Hikind enthused. “They are out putting themselves at risk on a daily basis.” Among the many notables attending the breakfast were Comptroller John Liu, Congressman Jerrold Nadler, State Senator Eric Adams, NYPD Inspectors Thursland, Scholes and Sprague, and Lieutenant James Woods of NYPD Community Affairs.
