The evening was graced by the presence of Harav Binyomin Landau, shlita, Tosher Dayan, Harav Yisroel Belsky, shlita, the Rosh Yeshiva of Torah Vodaas and Rabbi Mendel Meisels, Neimarker Rov. The purpose of the meeting was to keep all member Mohalim apprised of the latest medical issues and developments related to the field of brit milah.
Rabbi Cohn opened the meeting with heartfelt words of divrei chizuk to the mohalim and urged them of the importance to continue practicing brit milah true to halachah and mesorah without bending to outside pressures to compromise in any way. Harav Belsky addressed the assembled and marveled at the beauty of seeing such great achdut, unity, amongst the group of mohalim, and seeing firsthand the obvious seriousness of the mohalim to constantly educate themselves and try to better their craft – in their Avodas Hakodesh.
Harav Binyomin Landau, shlita, Tosher Dayan spoke about some very pertinent practical suggestions in inyanei milah in addition to sharing some of his own personal experiences with the mohelim.
During the course of the evening, many of the latest milah issues and medical updates were discussed. Guest medical practitioners Dr. Robert Adler, Dr. Harold Weiss, Dr. Jacob Warman and Dr. David Friedman presented updates in their fields of practice and answered many questions and clarified medical issues that were posed to them by the mohalim.
The highlight of the evening was a very informative practical presentation to the mohalim by the world renowned Dr. Jeffrey Stock, the Chief of Pediatric Urology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. The presentation focused on many practical and medical circumstances that may arise. He discussed the importance that mohalim adhere to the highest levels of professionalism when dealing with medical issues that present itself.
The American Board of Ritual Circumcision was established under the guidance and leadership of Harav Yitzchak Tuvia Weiss, shlita, Gaavad of Yerushalayim, and ybl”c Harav Shmuel Berenbaum, zt”l, Rosh Yeshivas Mir, and ybl”c Harav Shaul J. Kassin, shlita, Chief Rabbi of the Sephardic community; Harav Reuven Feinstein, shlita, Rosh Yeshiva of Staten Island; and Harav Yisroel Belsky, shlita, Rosh Yeshiva, Yeshiva Torah Vodaas.
The Board is an authoritative body that was established to create, disseminate and administer proper standards for the practice of brit milah in accordance with sound principles, based on the finest current scientific and medical knowledge. The Board identifies and consults with the most outstanding scientific and medical experts in all relevant fields.
